As a Graduate Instructional Developer with the centre for teaching excellence Marty Smith is involved in evaluating teaching events, facilitating workshops and providing feedback to fellow graduate students on their teaching. Having received his BSc with honours in biochemistry at the University of Waterloo Marty has gone on to pursue a PhD in chemistry also at the University of Waterloo, focusing on the biochemistry of protein folding. Marty’s passion for teaching has developed over his graduate career through his role as a teaching assistant and guest lecturer in several undergraduate courses. He also serves as a graduate student mentor for undergraduate students as they complete their senior undergraduate projects. Through his own positive experiences with CUT program Marty always looks forward to collaborating with others to improve the quality of university teaching.
